In 1951 the California Fruit Exchange (est. 1901) built a fruit packing shed located at Taylor and King Roads in Loomis. Peaches, plums and pears were brought in all summer from local farmers. The fruit was sorted, packed and shipped nationwide. Today businesses and residents have restored the distinctive building that symbolizes South Placer heritage. It provides a needed community amenity to teach children history and to accommodate business, private, & public events.
The Blue Goose Fruit Shed provides the perfect setting for the 12th annual AGROart™ Competition. Watch talented artists, young and old, craft quirky sculptures out of fresh fruits and vegetables. Each year artists of every age vie for generous cash prizes in individual and team categories.
