The Flower Farm Nursery is “a dream come true” for sisters Shari Fischer and Patti Foust. Their love and knowledge of plants is evident at every turn. Customers are encouraged to explore winding paths lined with many varieties of plants, to enjoy our fields of cutting flowers – or to relax with a delicious snack, meal or beverage overlooking the picturesque pond featuring a 13’water wheel.

With a degree in landscape architecture, Sheri can help clients with their garden design questions. Combined with Patti’s extensive plant knowledge, the pair is ready to help customers make their own gardens dreams come true. Specializing in unusual, beautiful plants such as “Ladies’ Paint Brush” and “Pink German Catch Fly,” the Flower Farm Nursery offers high-quality, pesticide-free plants and trees.

The nursery’s millhouse is packed with unique, locally produced gift items and garden art, as well as many practical items for the gardener. There is a a selection of handcrafted, high-quality outdoor furniture, made of kiln-dried, sustainable, farm-grown teak. The Flower Farm’s tranquil gardens are a perfect setting for weddings, receptions, and celebrations of all kinds.

You’re invited to sip a free cup of shade-grown, fair-trade coffee, listen to the bullfrogs, or peruse the nursery’s gardening lending library.

Located along the popular Auburn to Folsom bike route, the nursery welcomes bicyclists and has a selection of snacks and cold drinks.


Farm & Barn Tour Activities

Enjoy a tractor-pulled hayride around the 10-acre grounds, past “Pumpkin People Vignettes” and watch local wool spinner Shelley Aikens demonstrate how to spin wool accompanied by her angora goats. At 11 AM, attend a talk by local gardener Janet Clayton on how to grow organic veggies and cut flowers.

Tour the Flower Farm Inn, a turn-of-the-century farmhouse filled with beautiful antiques, old time charm, and modern conveniences with innkeeper, Sheila Chilton. Author Annie Bowler will read her children’s book “Adventures of the Treasure Fleet” at 10 am and 3 pm.

While strolling through the kitchen garden behind the main house, don’t forget to visit the Chinese Silkie chickens in their fabulous gypsy wagon digs. Walk on over to the new Events Center for the art show featuring John Bowler, owner/artist; Doug Horton, jeweler; Laurie Antuzzi, gourd artist, and Great Basin Basketmakers.
